Our class theme song ~ Try Everything

In 3rd grade we are working so hard to realize that in order to learn we need to have a growth mindset and be willing to make the right kind of mistakes. This week we took a look at the lyrics to a song by Shikara called Try Everything. This song is a perfect song for our class because we are trying to learn how to not be afraid or anxious about being right or wrong. Research says that when we are nervous, anxious or afraid our brains are not available to learn. We are working to change our mindset and feelings about learning so that we can learn and grow!  Enjoy this song!

This week in 3rd grade

We had a great couple days in 3rd grade. On Wednesday, Mr Jopp, Griffin's dad, came to talk to us about fire safety, train safety, and what it takes to be a good citizen using our habitudes. Today we went to The Grove and learned about Native American homes and lifestyle in a hands-on environment. This kicks off our Social Studies unit on Illinois with a focus on the Native Americans in Illinois. The kids had a blast! Thank you to the chaperones who came and endured the crazy weather!
